During the winter of 2016 -2017 I decided to give up the bakery side of the business, and the 60-hour weeks that went with it!

I planned to continue serving lunches but needed to source a quality bread supply.  In my travels I came across Stone Hearth Bakery and have embraced the concept, the people, and most importantly the bread! - Jennifer

Stone Hearth Bakery - Halifax, Nova Scotia

'From Need to Knead We're Giving Rise to

More than Just Bread.'

'Stone Hearth Bakery is a social enterprise established in 1982 providing a work-based training program in the high demand skill of baking.  The retail and wholesale bakery is the only kosher bakery east of Montreal producing premium quality European-styled breads, bagels and specialty baked goods that are distributed throughout the Maritimes, and can be found in most major grocery stores.  To be certified as a kosher bakery all bread products, regardless of their ingredients, must be parve, meaning they cannot contain any dairy or meat ingredients.  Stone Hearth breads are hand-shaped, allowed to develop slowly, and baked in a stone hearth oven.  They are a true reflection of the care and commitment our bakers bring to the art of bread making."  - www.stonehearth.ca
